Information Commissioner

The Information Commissioner is responsible for ensuring respect for the right to access public information and the right to personal data protection in the Republic of Slovenia.

The Information Commissioner may operate as an appeals body, inspection authority or minor offence authority, depending on the type and nature of the case; among other things, it deals with violations of the right to access or re-use public information, the right to the protection of personal data, patients’ rights and so forth.

The Information Commissioner is appointed by the National Assembly on the proposal of the President of the Republic.
