Ambassador Mirošič awards the Order for Exceptional Services to Lord Robertson

London, 21 May 2007 – Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Kingdom Iztok Mirošič awarded the former NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson, the Order for Exceptional Services in the international diplomatic field. Lord Robertson’s merits and personal contributions promoted the establishment, development and strengthening of relations between the North Atlantic Alliance and Slovenia. The order on the conferment of a decoration was signed by President of the Republic of Slovenia Janez Drnovšek.

The ceremony, held at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in London, was attended by senior representatives of the British foreign and defence ministries, Permanent Under-Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service Peter Ricketts, representatives of the House of Lords, members of the British parliament, and members of the diplomatic corps of the NATO member countries.

 
Ambassador Mirošič emphasised that during his term of office as NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson significantly contributed to the beginning of the calming down of the situation in Kosovo, improved cooperation between NATO and Russia, and the consensus on the largest NATO enlargement in history. Lord Robertson expressed his sincere thanks for the decoration and noted the positive cooperation with Slovenia.
