Minister Žbogar at the International Conference on Afghanistan 10 London, 28 January 2010 – Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Žbogar today participated in the International Conference on Afghanistan organised by the UN, Afghanistan and the UK. The ministerial conference was attended by representatives of 69 countries – including all EU and NATO Member States – interested in stabilising the situation in Afghanistan. Also participating were UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, and high representatives of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Organisation of The Islamic Conference. The purpose of the conference was to unite and enhance the international community’s efforts in stabilising Afghanistan so as to speedily and successfully transfer the security, political, administrative and economic responsibility in the country from the international community to the Afghan authorities.
