Minister Karl Erjavec attends the commemoration at the Russian Chapel below Vršič and meets the head of the Russian delegation, Minister Konstantin Noskov

Kranjska Gora, 28 July 2018 – Minister Erjavec attended the commemoration at the Russian Chapel and met the head of the Russian delegation, Konstantin Noskov, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, who is also Co-chair of the Intergovernmental Slovenian-Russian Commission for Trade and Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation. After the ceremony, the two ministers primarily discussed bilateral economic cooperation.

It is important for both Russia and Slovenia as well as for their economic operators that the volume of bilateral trade increased by 15 per cent in 2017. The data on this year's trade, the growing number of tourist overnight stays and increasing investments are also encouraging.

It is important to maintain and further enhance the positive trends in economic cooperation, and the Intergovernmental Slovenian-Russian Commission for Trade and Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation can definitely contribute to achieving this goal, as it is an important instrument for strengthening economic relations. The ministers agreed that the projects are being carried out according to plan, but that the list of joint projects should be regularly updated and steered towards joint ventures and knowledge transfer. The 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission is scheduled to take place this autumn in Slovenia.

Ministers Erjavec and Noskov commended the strengthening of cooperation in a number of other fields, underlining cooperation in education and digitalisation as particularly promising areas where relations should be further deepened.
