Farewell visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Ivory Coast, Gilbert Lagarton Ouattara

Ljubljana, 3 November 2017 – State Secretary Andrej Logar received the Ambassador of the Republic of Ivory Coast with the seat in Vienna, Gilbert Lagarton Ouattara, on his farewell visit. They discussed closer cooperation and multilateral issues concerning Slovenia and Ivory Coast, as well as the European and African continents.

They agreed that relations between the two countries are very good, friendly and with no outstanding issues. State Secretary Logar said that Slovenia is striving to enhance relations with West African countries and that Ivory Coast plays an important role in the region, also as the host of the 5th African Union/EU Summit. The summit will take place in Abidjan on 29-30 November and will focus on the situation of young people, with an emphasis on investments and job creation, good governance, knowledge and skills, and migration.

State Secretary Logar thanked Ambassador Ouattara for the participation of the Ivory Coast delegation in the 6th Africa Day, held at Brdo pri Kranju on 18-19 May 2017. He stressed the importance of multilateral cooperation in the light of Ivory Coast’s election to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member, as well as current Slovenian efforts within this organisation, including its initiative regarding the declaration of World Bee Day.
