Slovenia welcomes ratification of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement

Ljubljana, 16 September 2014 – Slovenia welcomes today's ratification of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), by the European Parliament and the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada.
The simultaneous ratification is an expression of mutual commitment to Ukraine's EU integration. Once implemented, the Association Agreement will facilitate enhanced cooperation between the EU and Ukraine in a wide range of areas, including the harmonisation of key regulations and standards.
Slovenia also supports further negotiations between the EU, Ukraine and the Russian Federation on the implementation of certain provisions of the free trade agreement, with a view to finding a compromise solution to help stabilise the Ukrainian economy and ensure full cooperation of Ukraine with both the EU and the RF on the basis of mutual interests.
