Section for Information System Development and Information Security

 

The Section is responsible for the strategy and development of the Ministry’s information system. It oversees information projects and the procurement of IT equipment and specifies standards for the IT equipment. It is also responsible for system and application development and system administration, setting up test and model installations, planning and proposing the adoption of rules on information technology, and assuring verification and control. The Section operates in the fields of data communications, data security and protection and defence preparations. It is also responsible for the development and operation of the Ministry’s communications system, protected electronic mail, internet connections and connections with other information systems. It develops and carries out comprehensive data security and protection in the Ministry’s information system, and allocates, distributes and keeps records of cryptographic keys and the password system. It exercises control over data security and protection. It cooperates with the Ministry of Defence and other ministries on defence preparations and civil protection, keeps defence records, and manages the Ministry’s defence plan and international action plans in the fields of defence and rescue.

 

User Support and Computer Maintenance Section

 

The Section provides user support and assistance. It takes care of errors that occur in IT equipment, organises information technology training and provides and publishes user instructions and handbooks. It keeps records of interventions, education and program licences. It cooperates with external service providers and carries out network, database and application administration. The Section also provides technical support for the Ministry’s website, installs software and provides transport of computers between the Ministry and diplomatic missions and consular posts.

 

It is engaged in preventive and emergency maintenance of IT equipment in the country and abroad, and takes care of failures. The Section exercises control and ensures smooth operation of all information system components and makes backup copies. It keeps records of failures and IT equipment, installs hardware and software, and manages the IT equipment depository.
