Minister's office performs a wide range of specialised and often complex tasks relating to the function of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

It is responsible for the entire process of drafting and finalising material for the minister's speeches, talks with foreign representatives and international organisations, and participation in international conferences. It also manages the minister's correspondence and meetings, including documenting such meetings, and notifying organisational units and their heads of ministerial decisions, instructions and guidelines. The Office coordinates the minister's domestic and international duties.

A very important position within the ministry is held by the diplomat responsible for internal control, who is in charge of the effective and economical operation of Slovenia's representative office network abroad, and providing the staff, material conditions and premises that befit Slovenia's reputation and are in line with conditions in the state in question. The diplomat responsible for internal control is appointed by the minister.
