NATO is currently modernising military forces to improve its efficiency and interoperability and to facilitate deployment. The basis for this transformation is provided by the Prague Capabilities Commitments and the establishment of the NATO Response Force (NRF). The NRF is a highly ready and technologically advanced force that the Alliance can deploy to the crisis area after five days’ notice and sustain itself for operations lasting 30 days or longer.
The future of NATO depends on the successful implementation of the entire spectrum of NATO mission, particularly the success of its military operations. The operations depend on the development of capabilities transformation and the readiness of the Allies to really implement their obligations in this respect.
Republic of Slovenia or Slovenian Armed Forces in NATO Response Force
Slovenia has been participating in the NRF since rotation 4 (14 January 2005), and regularly contributes its specialised forces (military police and CBRN defence units). Currently (October 2007), a military police squad participates in rotation 9.
