Kosovo
NATO is the key element of ensuring peace and stability in Kosovo. KFOR guarantees security during negotiations on Kosovo status and it will certainly have an important role in the implementation of the status agreement; NATO must thus plan a long-term military presence in Kosovo.
The KFOR operation is an example of cooperation between NATO and partner countries at a higher level. Thus the North Atlantic Council meets in a broader format (assisted by countries contributing considerably to KFOR forces). NATO-EU cooperation on ground has been assessed as positive.
Slovenia’s contribution
Slovenia’s military contribution to stabilisation and other operations as well as missions relates mostly to the Balkans – there are 160 members of the Slovenian Armed Forces in KFOR.
